Bruce Arians is off to a rocky, rocky start
I know, I know. I've said a lot about this. But I swear, there's new information in here that hasn't been brought up on CP. Be glad the Chiefs didn't hire him. I give him 2-3 years tops before he's on the hot seat.
Here's what we're learning:
Dare I say... he's about to build Kansas City West? http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap100...out-in-arizona http://www.revengeofthebirds.com/201...s-taking-shape |

Andy Reid doesn't know anyone that he hired.
No other coach in history hires people they know or consider their friends. |

Yeah. It was KNOWN Horton would want out if not getting the hc position.
Why would Arians want to keep him around? Posted via Mobile Device |

It was widely speculated well before the Cardinals hire that Arians wanted Bowles no matter what team he went to. Regardless of what team he went to, he would have pushed for the DC to be replaced with Bowles.

You hire a coach, he should get to pick his staff. It's on him. He should live or die in his career with the coaches of his choosing.

Look at coaches who did the right thing. I'm not Andy Reid cheerleader by any stretch, but he knew the Chiefs ran a 3-4, and he hired a coach outside of his tree to run the defense. He picked a defense to fit the scheme. Even if Reid will call the plays, he also hired a strong assistant in Brad Childress who will undoubtedly be heavily involved in gameplanning.

Rob Chudzinski. Chip Kelly. Mike McCoy. All offensive guys with a TON of offensive playcalling experience. Guess what? All three of them hired a highly experienced offensive coordinator (Norv, Shurmur, Whisenhunt).
Why are we applauding this? I hate the idea of head coaches also being coordinators (as much as I've defended Haley, this is a decision I thought was dumb from the top-down). |
