Trade Official: QB Alex Smith to #Chiefs confirmed

Reid Ferrin ‏@KCChiefs_Reid

Trade Official: QB Alex Smith to #Chiefs confirmed. Stay tuned to http://KCchiefs.com for more info #chiefskingdom

Adam Teicher ‏@adamteicher

The Alex Smith to #Chiefs trade is now official. 49ers get 2nd round pick plus conditional 2014 pick. Chiefs get starting QB

The San Francisco 49ers have agreed to a trade with the Kansas City Chiefs. The 49ers will acquire an undisclosed 2013 draft choice, and a conditional pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, in return for sending QB Alex Smith to the Chiefs. Smith must pass a physical in Kansas City for the trade to be executed.

“We would like to thank Alex for his contributions to the 49ers organization over the past eight years,” said 49ers General Manager Trent Baalke. “He is a true professional who represented the 49ers with class on and off the field.”

Originally the first overall draft pick in the 2005 NFL Draft by San Francisco, Smith spent eight seasons in the red and gold. During his tenure with the 49ers, he started 75 of the 80 games in which he played, completing 1,290 of 2,177 pass attempts (59.3%) for 14,280 yards and 81 TDs.

In 2012, Smith was 6-2-1 as a starter, completing 153 of 218 pass attempts (70.2%) for 1,737 yards with 13 TDs and 5 INTs, and a QB rating of 104.1. In 2011, Smith led the 49ers to their first NFC West title and postseason berth since 2002. He threw for a career-high 3,144 yards on 273 of 445 pass attempts with 17 TDs, 5 INTs and a 90.7 QB rating.

Born in Seattle, WA, Smith attended Helix High School in LaMesa, CA. At the University of Utah, Smith boasted a 21-1 record as a starter and became the first player in school history to be named a finalist for the Heisman Trophy.

Um Actually that is Harbaughs whole philosophy, He won at Stanford with it and turned the Niners around with it.

Really? Drew Bledsoe did.

Drew Brees did to phillip rivers.

Joe Freaking Montana did to Steve Young.

Kurt Warner lost his job to Eli Manning when he had the Giants 5-3 and in the playoff hunt.

Alex Smith lost his job coming off the best game of his career while leading the league in rating, completion percentage and being 6th in the espns reeruned logic of qbr.

It defintely is not as uncommon as people make it.

Yep, the same one with one of the worst defenses in the league.
This argument has been done a billion times in the Geno threads... you can't win so just go re-read that thread.

What kind of window licker goes around following an average QB and becomes completely obsessed with him???

That is ALL everyone is saying.....we do not want average....we are sick of average......take a swing on someone who has a chance to be more than Avg.

If we measured how many inches of Alex Smith cock you have swallowed just to now admit he is average, it would be an insane number...

No wonder you were banned from your own boards, you moron.

I wouldn't rank him with Peyton Manning or Tom Brady, no.... but I think his playoff record and last years performance shows otherwise.

No you cant win. Aaron Rodgers, elite, Drew Brees Elite, Tom Brady, Elite, Peyton Manning, elite.

None played in the super bowl this year. None has won a super bowl in the last 3 years. Tom Brady hasnt won since 2005?

You argument is fradulant. The best team wins the super bowl period.

Depends on what team Geno gets drafted to and if he even starts or if the team wants to let him sit for a bit.

Kaepernick, was his choice at qb. He used Alex Smith as a care taker, while he drafted, and developed his own qb.
