Final thoughts on preseason

This team just looks better. Just all around, even our suck is better than our suck in years past. You can tell we have a staff of coaches that know wtf they are doing. It's refreshing as we haven't seen that since the DV days when you get to it.

Obviously we haven't played a meaningful down yet and you can tell that there is room to improve but I think everyone is getting the sense that we are doing just that, improving. Worst to first? Most likely not but in this division it may not be unreachable.

Offense:
Running game looks rather weak but we were without JC against SF and went against the Steelers the next game. 2 very, very good defenses. So is our running game that bad or were we facing good defenses? Probably some of both.

Smith is going to be the proverbial game manager and if his preseason is any indication of what is to come that can suffice for now. His throws are accurate and receivers aren't jumping, reaching, diving, or sliding to catch passes ala Cassel. Don't turn it over, control the clock, rest the defense. That is a winnable recipe even if it is a boring one.

Tyler Bray......kid is going to be good in 2-3 years. If he pays attention to who he is learning from, we are going to have a bad ass QB.

Defense:
Its on! This defense is getting after it and though it may be a feast or famine defense, it's obvious that the days of Romeo's read-react defense is gone. This is attack, attack and attack some more. I think Poe and TJax are going to take big steps in the right direction this year.

Special Teams:
What can you say? They looked awesome all preseason long.

I see shades of Marty ball coming with a ball control offense, relentless defense and strong special teams. We just replace the power running with dinking and dunking in the passing game.

PS game 1:

Offense looked good, but not in a way that inspires confidence for real football. Defense looked good for one drive before leaving.

PS game 2:

Offense was abysmal. Defense looked bad for 3 plays against starters. Can't judge them based on playing SF's backups.

PS game 3:

Defense was poor (gave up 200 yards), but made a couple of timely plays (blocked kick, drew a phantom penalty) to prevent giving up a lot of points.

Offense was bad outside of one drive.

There's just not a lot to feel good about here. I liked our 60 seconds of magic against the Steelers. I liked what our starters did against New Orleans on defense. The rest was very iffy stuff.

We don't really know what our starters can do right now, except run the ball poorly.

On paper I agree. Factor in our history in Florida, normal odds of winning on the road, and the heat. We have had a fairly mild summer until this past week. Just don't like it, its one of those gut decisions. But I feel we will kill Dallas the next week.

Yes, that's poor.

But, like most poor quarterbacks, he can hit the 300-yard mark by attempting 48 passes. That's only 6.25 YPA.

Fun fact: In Alex's amazing playoff game, he had 299 yards on 42 attempts.

He needs a LOT of attempts to rack up decent yardage.

Clay,

can you at least wait until the regular season to cry gloom and doom?

I'm looking forward to massive improvement from this team.

PS: Andy Reid feels Alex grasps his offense and doesn't tip his hand.

PS: You violently masturbate to Geno Smith. Then rip the knob off your dick when Geno throws three picks and stumbles like a special child out of the back of the end zone.

You also said he couldn't do well because he Andy Reid throws the ball on average like 35 or 36 times a game and Alex Smith's record was terrible in that situation.

Just stop dude. You're being proven wrong with your own words.

I don't buy this. We know who Alex is. He did the same things he's done his entire career this preseason. It wasn't "Crafty Reid hiding the big plays."

Yes, he would do poorly in this type of offense.

Let me know when we attempt to do this.

Well at least we don't have to worry about crafty GoChiefs hiding his bs opinions.

Alex Smith threw 24 passes alone in only one half against the Steelers

Lets see...

Starting run game blew ass. Starting WRs running decoy routes for the TE and RBs for all but 1 minute, big ****in surprise. Pass D still likes to give up big plays. But, at least our run D was good. Special teams going to be the MVP again.

Sounds like just another 10 win season for the Chiefs.

Yes, and the offense was poor outside of 60 seconds.

If he had continued to throw that much, especially in a real game, we would have been destroyed.
