There are moments in Pacific Rim where it's cheesy and stereotypical genre stuff. But literally all the fights are fascinating. When Striker is running through the bay to help the other Jaeger, that shit's exciting. Saving the boat is exciting. Strutting down the road with a huge **** off boat to beat the monster? What more can you ask for in a summer blockbuster?

I get that, my dude. Watching Avatar was like having that screen gently make love to my eyes, though. To each their own.
