2016 Mock Draft
Not sure these guys fall to us, but these are the guys I'd like our Chiefs to draft. A lot of the below commentary comes from ESPN and NFL.com. I trust that they offer better evaluations than myself, but feel free to disagree. I'm banking on when NFL scouts say that there is real CB and DT depth in this years draft, that they mean there are some legitimate depth options in later rounds.
Here goes.... 1) WR Corey Coleman (5'11, 194 lbs, 4.39) Baylor: Quick, sudden, and gifted athlete that can make defenders miss. A home run hitter with the highest production of the top tier WRs in this year draft class with 74 Rec, 1,363 yrds and 20 TDs in 2015. Not yet a complete route runner, but has the physical gifts to excel in the West Coast System. Plus, who better to learn from than Maclin? Day 1 #2 WR option. Alt: CB Jackson 2) OG Josua Garnett (6'4, 312 lbs, 30 reps) Stanford Massive well-proportioned frame with explosive initial pop. Plays a mean, physical style of football with brains to boot. Considered by many as the best Gaurd in the draft. Garnett would solidify and complete our OL. Alt: WR Caroo 3) *FU Goodell !!!* 4) CB/S Deiondre' Hall (6'2, 199 lbs, 4.55) Northern Iowa Great size with exceptionally long arms that are disruptive in jump ball situations. Ideal press corner Played both corner and safety in 2015, earning multiple All-American honors and the Missouri Valley Football Conference Defensive Player of the Year award with 82 tackles, 5.5 for loss, 3 FF, 6 INT, and 2 TDs. 4 year career ball production (15 PBU, 13 INT). He has great measurables, versititality and scheme fit for the Chiefs D. Alt: OT Haeg 5a) DE/OLB Matt Judon (6'3", 275 lbs, 4.73, 30 reps) Grand Valley State High motor athlete with chiseled build at 275 lbs. Dominated his competition with 20 sacks, 23.5 tackles for loss, 3 FF and 3 FR. Really good range vs the run and pass rushing skills. Obvious knock on him is the lack of competition he faced. He offers depth at OLB and could be worked into DL rotation and special teams. 5b) CB Leshaun Sims (6'0, 203 lbs, 4.42) Southern Utah Press-CB who is at his best in bump and run technique where he can use his size, strength and speed to his advantage. 4 yr career ball production (25 PBU, 8 INT). Takes quality angles and isn't afraid to set the hard edge against the run. Another small school prospect that fits our defensive depth needs with the measurables Chiefs brass covet. 6) ILB Scooby Wright III (6'0, 239 lbs, 4.75, 22 reps) Arizona Best defender in college football in 2014, winning the coveted triple crown of national awards: the Bronko Nagurski Trophy, Rotary Lombardi Award and Chuck Bednarik Award. The unanimous All-American and Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year ranked among the top five players in the country with 163 tackles, 29 tackles for loss, 14 sacks and six forced fumbles. He was a one-man wrecking crew and possesses elite instincts, appears to head in direction of the play like he knows the play call. Great football player but not an elite athlete. Why not? ...His name is "Scooby" for christ sake!? ...and he provides needed depth at ILB. 7) DT David Onyemata (6'4, 300 lbs, 5.05, 33 reps) Manitoba Originally from Nigeria Onyemata is the top Canadian prospect. He played Soccer prior to American Football. He dominated his competition and showed really well at the East-West Shrine Bowl. “His numbers throughout the [pro] day have been crazy,” said his coach, Dobie. “He’s top three, top four, top five in the NFL combine. That’s how his numbers are translating. His numbers are extraordinary. That puts him on everyone’s radar screen.” UDFA DT Zimmer (6'2, 301 lbs, 4.85, 44 reps) Ferris State Another gifted athlete that didn't play against elite competition, but Zimmer absolutely dominated in both the pass rush and against the run. He showed great explosion off of the snap, and his athleticism and raw strength shows up on the field. 2015: 26 tackles for loss and 13 sacks. This guy is crazy fast and strong at 300 lbs. He ran a 4.85, that's just .2/sec slower than the #1 WR Treadwell. He completed 44 reps at his pro day, the highest at this years combine was 34, and here's a video of him doing 46: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Anqt7_4HdhQ Last edited by Couch-Potato; 04-27-2016 at 09:45 PM.. |
