Selling a house without an agent

The wife and I are about to put the house on the market. Houses in our area are selling in a couple of days of being put on the market so we are not going to get an agent. I didn't know if that was the best route or if you could just say agents are fine as long as they know they have to cover the fees. Anyone know the best way to handle this?

If you have to ask this question in the first place, you're probably better off letting a professional sell your house.
