A 71-year-old Louisiana man has been arrested on suspicion of 100 counts of first-degree rape, Rapides Parish law enforcement announced.
Harvey Joseph Fountain was accused of sexually abusing numerous juvenile victims in Pineville, La., in the 1970s and ‘80s, and was arrested last week in connection with 50 counts of first-degree rape. As the investigation continued, he was booked on an additional 50 counts. First-degree rape, Louisiana’s most severe charge for sexual crimes, carries no statute of limitations, according to BuzzFeed News. The charge refers to crimes in which victims are younger than 13 years old, elderly, disabled, overcome by force, or facing severe injury or death. “Fountain remains at the parish jail in lieu of posting his initial $500,000.00 bond and bonds have yet to be set in reference to the additional charges,” the sheriff’s department said. “Detectives say their investigation is still ongoing and more arrests are possible.” https://thehill.com/homenews/state-w...st-degree-rape |
