5/3 - Veach's Post-Draft Press Conference
- They loved the value of Bolton & Thiccness at the end of Round 2. They had been in discussions with some teams about possibly trading back a few picks leading up to 58, but one team backed out and when they were on the clock, they were happy with Bolton.
- Veach shared that they are among the more conservative teams in the league regarding medical eliminations on their draft board. They did a ton of work researching Trey Smith and thinking through some possible solutions. He had tried a few different medicines, some worked and some didn't, but they feel like they have a way to make it work for him. - Veach shared that Powell will really compliment Tyreek and Mecole, without mentioning Pringle, Drob, etc... Reading the tea leaves, it sounds like Powell will have a strong chance to be WR3 early or at least compete with Drob for that spot. - They were super aggressive in their pursuit of Noah Gray, and as soon as they got off the phone with Kaindoh, they began looking for a way to trade up to get Gray (without having to concede an actual pick). They had to wait 20-25 picks before they got the Jets to bite. - Veach said Kaindoh is a "Protoypical Steve Spagnuolo D-End." He has some work to do in terms of development; had an ankle injury that really set him back. Medical staff likes how it healed up. He has a ton of potential, his size was exactly what we were looking for. He has all the tools at the position. The Presser is midway through the video below, sandwiched between Mitch & Matt's breakdown of the draft; some good nuggets on each guy. Last edited by Dante84; 05-03-2021 at 10:19 AM.. |
