What I'd have done...

Always feels strange complaining about what was done if you're unwilling to say what you WOULD have done. So I guess I oughta go on record and see if anyone else is interested in doing the same.

So I'm assuming that I'm getting phone-calls for any of the trades made/not made. I can elect to accept said trade or not. Since I don't know who is willing to accept what with draft picks, I didn't 'force' any trade ups even if they fit a draft pick calculator. There's just too much uncertainty involved there.

Pick 29: I don't think I take the Trent McDuffie trade. I understand why they did it and don't have a problem with it, it's just not what I'd have done. I think a 3rd and 4th was just a little stout so I'd have ended up standing pat and made the pick at 29. At 29 I'd have taken George Karlaftis, DE - Purdue

Pick 30: I like some of the DL talent here but I also really liked Andrew Booth going into this draft. Maybe not as high a floor as McDuffie and not as high a ceiling as Kyler Gordon, but a damn nice combination of both and at 21 he still has room to develop so I'd have taken Andrew Booth, CB - Clemson

Pick 54: There are a handful of guys on the board I still like here and a low trade to 54 wouldn't have hurt any. So I'd have pulled the trigger on the trade down and at 54 would've had a real tough time making up my mind between Sam Williams and Drake Jackson. Ultimately I think I'd have had a hard time passing on Sam here and would've gone with Sam Williams, DE - Mississippi.

Pick 62: Jalen Tolbert, WR - Southern Alabama. He's not ready yet and at 23 he'll need to get ready pretty fast, but I love his body control and think he has excellent hands and potential. I see Corey Davis potential here if you can get him through the growing pains of transitioning to the next level.

Pick 94: I didn't give this up for McDuffie so I still have it. I took a few hits along the way from 62 with Dulcich and Jones coming off the board. Nakobe Dean finally went as well. But an intriguing DT is still sitting there who needs work but has a lot of tools. I would go with Perrion Winfrey - DT, Oklahoma

Pick 103: This was right around when I said I'd start looking at LBs and Andersen off the board, Chenal is a no brainer. Going chalk - Leo Chenel, LB - Wisconsin

Pick 121: Honestly I'd probably be looking at trade-ups here with pick and 4.30. But the reason I'd be looking to trade up would still be there at 121 and that would be Calvin Austin, WR - Memphis.

Pick 135: I wouldn't be able to pass on the tools. Tariq Woolen, CB - UTSA

Pick 145: Man I'd sprint to the board for Darian Kinnard, OT - Kentucky here. Just a fantastic pick.

Pick 243: Can't claim to care at this point. I'd probably go with Mario Goodrich, CB - Clemson. Just a good value play here.

Pick 251: Jalen Wydermyer - TE, Texas A&M. Another dart throw at someone who looks better on tape than he times. Maybe he's something. Maybe he's not. But as a PS stash or someone who can maybe stand in as a backup TE while we wait to see if Fortson comes back or Gray develops, he's a fine gamble.

Pick 259: Isiah Pacheco, RB - Rutgers. Just a straight measurables guy. I wanted speed at RB, he has it.

So my final tally:

George Karlaftis
Andrew Booth
Sam Williams
Jalen Tolbert
Perrion Winfrey
Leo Chenal
Calvin Austin
Tariq Woolen
Darian Kennard
Mario Goodrich
Jalen Wydermyer
Isiah Pacheco

2 DEs, 3 CBs, 2 WRs, 1 DT, 1 TE, 1 RB, 1 OT, 1 LB

The only pick I'm not pretty certain on is Williams. I might have gone with Drake Jackson there with the belief that Williams could slide. But having not gone WR yet, I'd have probably decided that WR with 94 was almost a foregone conclusion so if I didn't take Williams at 62, I wouldn't get him. So I think sitting there on the clock not knowing what was going to happen, I'd have gone with Williams.
