TE KENDALL GAMMON SELECTED TO THE 2005 AFC PRO BOWL SQUAD
Jan 28, 2005, 4:25:26 AM

The National Football League announced on Friday that TE Kendall Gammon has been selected to the 2005 Pro Bowl as the AFC’s “need” player. If a long snapper is not selected in player voting, the AFC or NFC head coach must select a long snapper. Pittsburgh head coach Bill Cowher, who is coaching the AFC squad has chosen Gammon to perform those duties in the 2005 Pro Bowl.

Gammon (6-4, 255) appeared in all 16 games for the club in 2004 and was named to the USA Today All-Joe team for his snapping exploits. He has played in 208 consecutive games, the longest streak by an active player. The Wichita, Kansas native originally entered the NFL as an 11th-round draft selection (291st overall) by Cowher and the Steelers in ‘92. Gammon played in 64 consecutive games in four seasons for Pittsburgh (’92-95) and 64 straight contests in four campaigns with New Orleans (’96-99). He joined the Chiefs as a free agent on February 23, 2000.

Since joining the Chiefs in 2000, Gammon has become one of the club’s most active members in the Kansas City community. Serving as the spokesperson for the Kansas City Free Health Clinic, he has helped promote wellness and quality health services for low-income, uninsured or under-insured individuals who do not have access to health care. Gammon has also been an active participant in the Chiefs “Read Across America” initiative, which promotes literacy among Kansas City youth.

A product of Pittsburg State, Gammon started 41 games for the Gorillas at both tackle and guard. A three-time All-Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association selection, the Rose Hill, Kansas native helped Pittsburg State to the ‘91 NCAA Division II National Championship
her.
