Resign/Re-sign
This has been annoying me lately.
There's a rather significant difference between the two. Resign means that the person has left their position, while re-sign means that they are staying longer. For example, just about every thread is about re-signing (i.e. We Should not Resign Tony Gonzales), but people tend to always use "resign". So when I saw the thread a while back saying "Quin Snyder resigns at Mizzou", I assumed that it meant he had signed a new contract (which was confusing to begin with), and then Missouri fans were celebrating, which was even more confusing, and prompted me to actually read the thread starter, which was totally inconvenient. That hyphen means a lot. So get it right! ![]() |
