A man fell to his death during the 49ers game Sunday, tumbling 20 feet from the upper concourse to a concrete walkway at Monster Park.

The identity of the man was being withheld, pending notification of his family and an investigation by a medical examiner.

Lisa Lang, the 49ers vice president of communications, said that the San Francisco police department has ruled the death an accident after interviewing witnesses.

"It's a very sad day for all of us," Lang said.

The fall occurred between 2 and 3 p.m., Lang said, when a fan toppled over a wall near a concession stand. The wall is four feet high and six inches thick.

The fan went over the wall and landed on a ramp leading to the mezzanine level, Lang said.
