Greinke can be a #2. The kid has an ERA below 4, he has dynamite stuff and is still only 24. There's not a team in baseball with a #3 that good, let alone a 4. TB may pull that off, that's it. Meche a #3. He's a good pitcher, has been a great pitcher for 2 months now. He's occasionally lights out, but not consistent enough to be a true top of the rotation guy. He's the definition of a #3 starter. Bannister a #5. Innings, keeps you in most games. He's a born back of the rotation starter. You guys need a #1 and a #4. The 4 should be an innings eater that can give you league average performance; A Jeff Suppan-type. That said, the Royals are still screwed until they get a new hitting coach. They've wasted 2 seasons of development on both Gordon and Butler. Shealy's busted, Teahan's regressed and Aviles will do the same if they don't get someone else in there soon. |
