So someone who plays say, WR and goes to 8 pro bowls and plays for 12 years is more important than someone who plays MLB and goes to 6 pro bowls and plays for 10 years?

The point is, you can't compare, because they are asked to do entirely different things.

So basically, it comes down to a popularity contest.
