Coaching Credentials
Former NDSU assistant Perles lands in NFL
By: Jeff Kolpack , INFORUM The coaching gods threw an audible at Pat Perles. Almost three weeks after going from North Dakota State to Ball State, the NFL called. He answered with a yes and today, was officially named an assistant coach with the Kansas City Chiefs. His exact duties have yet to be determined. “It’s been a real whirlwind, that’s for sure,” Perles said. “If I would have known this would have materialized, I never would have left North Dakota State. You can never predict these things.” Perles was an assistant at NDSU for six years. He left his offensive coordinator job for Ball State. But when the Chiefs hired Todd Haley, things changed quickly. Perles and Haley grew up together in Pittsburgh. Perles’ dad, George, was an assistant coach and Haley’s father, Dick Haley, was the team’s personnel director. |
