Michael Johnson DE Wake Forest would be my pick. I like the fact that Chan Gailey coached him in college. He can play in both the 3-4 and 4-3. More of a pass rusher, so he may be more of a situational player initially. I think he could compliment Turk McBride well bc Turk is more of a run stuffer. And put Michael Johnson in on passing situations and let him chase the QB. The guy has a ton of upside. Didn't play up to potential. But he could be the best pass rusher in the draft and the last time I checked, we need one pretty bad.
Overview Blessed with rare size, long arms and the burst off the snap to generate an instant pass rush off the edge, Johnson has exciting potential. To this point, however, that's mostly what Johnson has been -- potential. He garnered first-team All-ACC honors as a senior with 17.5 TFL and nine sacks but his play was spotty. A lot of his numbers were amassed against poor competition. Johnson might have a future as a pass-rushing linebacker in the 3-4 scheme so he can use his length and agility in coverage. http://www.nfl.com/combine/profiles/...hnson?id=71351 |
