Gretz: Parctice 9/10 (Cassel Stuff)

September 10, 2009 - Bob Gretz | No Comments From the Truman Sports Complex QB Matt Cassel’s left knee must be holding up because he did more in the open portion of Thursday’s practice than he did in either the Monday or Wednesday sessions. In the quarterback drills, Cassel showed a little more energetic pass drop and plant than previously. In one of the drills, the QB drops three steps, stops, takes a shuffle step or two, and then drops two more steps. It’s a herky-jerky movement for the legs; Cassel did that and appeared to have no difficulties. When it came to throwing on the run, Cassel had done none of that in the first two practices this week. On Thursday, he did throw one pass on the move and delivered it with accuracy. Certainly, Cassel’s ball was arriving with some heat as he drilled several short throws. Overall, he did not move with the same agility and quickness the other quarterbacks displayed, but it was an improvement over his earlier sessions. Todd Haley had the team in shoulder pads and shorts on Thursday morning with a full compliment of 53 roster players and eight practice squaders taking part. |
