The plus 1 system would at least give us a some what of a true national champion. Heck the BCS was put in place to not have split titles, its happened once and should of happen twice at least.

Also, you pointed out that NE went to a better bowl game. The only people that care about the bowls seeding is the fans. Sure people teams want bigger bowls, but the fact is, they want to win the bowl they go to, to improve the quality of recruits.
