Chiefs Announce Coaching Staff Changes

Jan 28, 2010, 5:35:17 PM

The Kansas City Chiefs announced on Thursday that the club has made several changes to Head Coach Todd Haley’s coaching staff. The following assistant coaches have joined the Chiefs staff:

Richie Anderson (Wide Receivers): Anderson served an NFL minority coaching fellowship with Kansas City in 2009. He previously worked as a tight ends/asst. wide receivers coach with the N.Y. Jets in 2006. A 13-year NFL veteran as a fullback, Anderson appeared in 161 regular season games (88 starts) for the N.Y. Jets (1993-02) and Dallas (2003-05). He rushed 318 times for 1,274 yards with four TDs and caught 400 passes for 3,149 yards with 14 TDs. He was selected to the Pro Bowl following the 2000 season and saw action in five career postseason games. Anderson entered the NFL as a sixth-round selection (144th overall) of the N.Y. Jets in the ‘93 NFL Draft. The Silver Spring, Maryland native played collegiately at Penn State.

Anthony Pleasant (Assistant Coach – Defense): Pleasant originally joined the Chiefs as an NFL minority fellowship coach in 2009. A 14-year NFL defensive lineman, Pleasant played in 202 regular season games (157 starts) with Cleveland (’90-95), Baltimore (’96), Atlanta (’97), the N.Y. Jets (’98-99), San Francisco (2000) and New England (2001-03). He finished his career with 598 tackles (407 solo), 58.0 sacks, two INTs, 13 forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. He also started seven career playoff games, earning two Super Bowl rings with the Patriots. The Century, Florida native entered the league as a third-round pick (73rd overall) of Cleveland in ‘90 out of Tennessee State.

The Chiefs also announced that Pat Perles has been reassigned on the coaching staff. Perles will now serve as the club’s assistant offensive line coach after working as Kansas City’s defensive quality control coach in 2009.

In addition, the Chiefs also announced that Bob Bicknell, Clancy Pendergast and Dedric Ward will not return to the coaching staff.
