My 14 y/o son just hit a 215 yard Eagle!
Sorry for bragging but this was possibly a once in a lifetime moment with father and son...
Last night was our weekly walking golf league over at our local golf club. 16 guys walk the same hole at the same time and play for skins. It's a hoot. My son Alex played in this last week without me. Lucky for us I was there this time to witness this spectacular shot in person. All the other guys are in their 30's to 60's. They said they had never seen a shot like that in their lives. Alex does it at the ripe old age of 14. On a 410 yard par 4, he was 215 yards out to the pin. He hit a 4 iron that was a low cut and started hopping about 20 yards short of the green. Those of us in the fairway watched the ball roll up on the green tracking straight to the hole. We knew it definitely went in when our commissioner, who was by the green, raised his arms like a ref signaling a touchdown. The commish said that the ball hung on the lip for a second before falling in the hole. Making the shot even more spectacular was that Alex hit it from the rough, had to bend the ball around a tree, bounce it up onto the green and hit the back pin on freshly aerated greens. I've hit 2 maybe 3 eagles in my 30 years of playing. But like most that have hit an eagle, they came on par 5's. Alex did it on a par 4! Much more difficult. Just imagine a par 3 hole in 1 that went 215 yards. |
