Wow, Gotliebb is a real partial whiny bitch. I remember the days in broadcast journalism (real journalism and broadcast journalism are dead now, even the sports variety) when it was bad to show your allegiance if you had any. I know some networks still go by it to a degree (the color analysts not making a prediction on a game that they're calling for example) but it's nuts. I know Gotliebb isn't a real journalist and his job isn't to be one, especially in the TMZ and A.D.H.D. generation of sports viewing, but show a little bit of professionalism. He was the same way in his playing days at OSU (1-4 record against us by the way), just a bitch. I just didn't know how bitchy he was until I went through his tweets damn. He comes off as psycho too because he'll be like KU is good and compliment them in one breath then be like OMG NOT COOLZ REFS ARE PAID BY TEH BILL SELF. I think he tries to be as professional as a former athlete doing this as he can. Most of them are terrible but there are some that are naturals. It baffles my mind that some of these guys who played the game and really know it like the back of their hand but they can't explain it to you or break it down. Gotliebb isn't one of those though.

I've always got angry at the stupid James Harden head snap EVERY SINGLE TIME he goes into the lane. Even when he was on the Thunder, and I'm a Thunder fan. There is a reason why the NBA is trying to fine and thinkg of new ways to combat this bullshit. It's because fans hate it. You are right, it does go on more in the NBA, but I honestly have rarely seen it more prevalent with a player than Marcus Smart.

Here's what I propose. You can't review every play for flopping. Would make the game too long and disrupt the flow of the game. What you can do is have a couple guys in the booth review every single play. Every flop, the player gets a foul. He'll be notified of it after every quarter in the NBA, every 10 minutes in the NCAA. That would stop idiots from doing it. Smart woulda fouled out at the 10minute mark of the 1st half if that type of thing was instituted. At some point you have to have pride for yourself and respect the game.

This is why they have monitors to review stuff like this. There is nothing to call here. same thing happened in the Kentucky game in there was no call yesterday. So its basically a dramatic flop.

Elbow rules

In men’s and women’s basketball, panel members approved a tweak to the rules regarding elbow contact above the shoulders.

In these circumstances, officials may use the monitor to determine if a flagrant foul has been committed.

Officials will determine if the contact was a flagrant 2, flagrant 1, common foul or no call. When the officials use the monitor to review a situation that is not called on the floor, the only options are flagrant 2, flagrant 1 or no foul.

In a flagrant 1 situation, the player who was struck is awarded two free throws and his or her team gets possession of the ball.

In a flagrant 2 situation, free throws and possession are awarded and the player who threw the elbow is ejected from the game.

The men’s and women’s basketball committees felt the original intent of the elbow rules have caused too many flagrant fouls being called when they weren’t appropriate. The intent of the elbow rule has always been to protect players and eliminate the rip move where players were making contact above the shoulders of defenders.

By allowing officials to review these plays on the monitor, both committees believe it will eliminate the non-deserving flagrant 1 fouls in particular.

They cant overturn the call on the monitor, they can only determine if it was a flagrant 1 or 2, and they called it a 1.
