This is not how you build a dynasty team. Reid was probably told by Hunt to keep KC 9-7 or above and the job is yours.

This team is an emotional investment for the fans and a financial one for Clark Hunt. A mediocre team with a retread QB maximizes revenue (filled stands and concessions because you're only a piece or two away) while minimizing risk (if you draft a guy and he bombs, people won't show up).

If you're a GM and you want to bank a check for a long time, it's better to go this route. "Look at all the improvement!!" Parcells did the same thing in Miami with a sham "rebuild" and got praised incessantly for it, when in reality, all he did was take the obvious steps anyone could towards building a mediocre roster.
