Kid Destroys 'Dollar Store'

A young boy destroyed a Dollar Store by going aisle to aisle tossing items on the floor and attacking customers, and the disturbing incident was all caught on video.

The rampage was captured by a shopper, showing the boy who appeared to be eight or nine running wild in the Dollar Store. The video, which was uploaded to YouTube Monday, started with the boy already in mid-rampage, with countless items on the floor.

The video then showed the boy wandering from aisle to aisle, knocking items to the floor and throwing others. When the camera person got too close, the young boy threatened to hit the man with an umbrella but he changed his mind when the cameraman warned that it would “end his life.”

The boy then moved on, destroying more items and even going to the store’s back storage room, where he knocked down more boxes before being chased back into the store.

Finally, after several minutes the destruction ended when the boy tried to attack another Dollar Store customer before one man, who stood watching the incident unfold, snatched the boy by his collar and dragged him out of the store.

The video of the boy destroying the Dollar Store went viral shortly after hitting YouTube. It was one of the top voted posts on Reddit, where commenters lamented about the situation and how the customers and employees seemed helpless.

But others felt pity for the boy who destroyed the Dollar Store, saying that it is clear his parents don’t seem to care for him. Others speculated that he must have serious emotional issues.

“That kid’s behavior is a call for help,” one wrote. “If I worked there, or if I was a cop, i’d pick him up, and have him sit in on my lap in a kind of friendly forced hug and I’d say “i won’t let you go until you promise to tell me what’s wrong. I know something is up, but I need you to tell me.” (If you are a cop, then you probably don’t need to hold him, talk is enough.)”

Another added: “Yeah, I’m imagining incredible abuse at home. This isn’t a kid who has parents who tuck him in and read to him every night.”

Look again after the edit. I posted the link incorrectly. It's already been done and will teach kids and worthless parents there will be a better consequence to bad actions than probation.

I see but I'm not going to watch it.

What I was getting at is that there's not much of a plausible scenario in which this type of behavior is eradicated unless it's cut out at the source. The only feasible way that'll happen is through proper parenting, IMO. Fear of punishment shouldn't really be the ultimate factor in why a person decides to do good. You've got to get them at a young age and instill good values, morals and judgment.

The kid in the video is obviously lacking that. Police and Child Protective Service intervention is probably the last thing he needs. Some love, attention and guidance would likely go a long way as well as, potentially, some professional therapy or counseling.

But where you came in is just not something that can likely happen. Legally speaking, you can't discipline someone else's kids (which is likely why no one stepped in), you can't really punish parents for doing a shitty job, and you certainly can't make them punish their own kids. It's just not the way the world works.

I disagree that professional interference would be bad, what if that kids (and kids like him) parents are incapable of or unwilling to, provide that attention, love, and guidance?

Not saying thats the answer for every scenario, but theres no doubt that a lot of parents out there have no right to be one, are incapable of being one... that could very well be this kids problem, it would help explain what a kid his age is doing in a store unsupervised God knows how far from home.

Had either of my children even attempted to pull that stunt, I would have spanked their ass right there in the store and (owner permitting) forced the kid to put everything back on the shelf, pay for broken items, then apologize.

This may be correct. Some people just aren't fit to be parents.

I'm just always hesitant to throw children in the state system. I'm sure there are tons of success stories but just as many that don't work out. In the system, like at home, for many of these kids they just because a case number or they're moved around from home to home or they're constantly probed by adopting families. I couldn't imagine the letdown of meeting prospective adopting families only to be told they decided to go with a different child or something like that.

Once again, in this situation you might be right. I just wish it could be taken care of at home instead.

We actually agree here. I'm just saying the plan of action you initially proposed just isn't something that could actually go down in our society. You'd have no power, as just a random bystander, to do anything besides call the police.

I agree, and while I have no personal experience with state systems for kids like this, its certainly not hard to imagine some of them being cold and impersonal, doing atleast as much harm as good... especially in city areas where the system can become overwhelmed by sheer numbers.

But yeah, in many cases its almost certainly criminal to leave them with their parents.

In all honesty, Dane. This particular situation needs addressed while he's young. This kid had zero respect for adults or society. If all he gets is a slap on the wrist, then we'll be seeing this young kid in the news 8-10 years down the road. If there isn't a bigger consequence than his X-Box taken away, he'll just do it again or worse.

And yes I spanked my kids when they were young. Key word is spank, NOT beat. This young fella obviously lacks proper parenting or he wouldn't have been in the store without supervision in the first place. Taking his ass to McDonalds for a Happy Meal won't resolve this lads problem
