Reid's style finally caught up with him

I will give Reid credit for a ton of regular season wins. But this time his style of doing just enough to squeak out a win cost us a game against a clearly inferior team. If this were a play off game I would melt down. For now, meh...

Curious to know how many 3rd downs we ran without Hill and Kelce even on the field?

How many crucial running plays did we call for ****ing West instead of Ware?

Johnathon Hayes. We threw the ball to Johnathon ****ing Hayes. Well, Kreig did. Out of the EZ. The pass was low. Right where it should have been. And what does Hayes do? He stone handed it, juggled it, popped the ball high in the air and the Bears Jeremy Lincoln picks it off. All we needed was a first down.

Coincidentally, we were up 14-0 in that game also and lost 19-17.

That was after Albert Lewis picked off a terrible pass by (ugh) Jim Harbaugh at the Chiefs 2.

I can't even....

This team has gone from winning solidly early season, to barely squeaking by thanks to turnovers and fluke plays, and now losing despite winning the turnover battle.

I'm afraid they about to turn back into a pumpkin, honey. Dis jig is up.

It's pretty obvious that without the defense and special teams scoring, we are lucky to get to 10+ points.

Tyreek not being more a part of the offense yesterday is mind-numbingly stupid.

Andy called the same ****ing plays back then. He thinks that sideways passing etc runs the clock and protects the lead. All it really does is give the other team a chance. Just like the prevent defense does a lot of the time.
If the final offensive possession took place in the 1st or 2nd quarter, then I can understand the play calls, as at that point you are just seeing how the defense reacts, possibly measuring the D up for some specific plays, etc.

But when your offense has to get one 1st down to win the game, has to pick up just 10 yards and the game is over, you call your 3 best plays designed to take advantage of the defenses aggressiveness. One that come to mind is the fake sweep opposite side pitch play. The LT and LG (or RG and RT) pull towards the short side, and the entire offensive lines sweeps that way, while the back takes 1 step that way, and then takes the naked pitch from the QB to the hopefully unprotected, vacant side of the field.

And you isolate your biggest mismatches. Run a drag route, or rub route and get Kelce matched up with a LB or CB. Or get the fastest player for either team, Tyreek Hill, and put him on the wide side of the field, with your bunch set on the short side, which would make safety help lean towards the short side of the field, and Hill takes a hard step or two like he is going deep, and then runs a hard slant. The DB has to honor his speed, which is all the cushion Hill needs to separate.

But whatever you call, your big offensive weapons have to be on the field.

3 plays to get 10 yards, and you have 2 players that are as close to indefensible as anyone in the NFL, and this is what Alex "Gigabytes" Smith & Andy "Offensive Genius" Reid come up with:

1st and 10 from the KC 25*(3:12) S.Ware left end to KC 30 for 5 yards

(BEFORE THIS CARRY WEST HAD 3 CARRIES FOR A TOTAL OF 2 YARDS)

2nd and 5 from the KC 30*(2:25) C.West up the middle to KC 33 for 3 yards. West finishes the game with 4 carries for 5 yards. That's a 1.25 yards per carry. Tyreek Hill had 1 carry for 68 yards.

3rd and 2 from the KC 33*(2:00) A.Smith right end to KC 33 for no gain

4th and 2 from KC 33*(1:16) D.Colquitt punts 42 yards to TEN 25, Center-J.Winchester, fair catch by M.Mariani.

We had to get 10 yards in 3 plays, and neither Hill nor Kelce were involved. Kelce finished with 3 receptions for 41 yards. That's 13.7 yards per catch.

Pathetic. Disgusting. Embarrassing. Idiotic. Moronic. Baffling.

Reid went full Reid.

You all are so funny;

Yes, Reid goes conservative with a lead, and it hurt us this week when it could've hurt us several weeks this year. Or any other week we didn't get a defensive or special teams TD

Yes, smith is just as successful at throwing short passes for high YAC as any Tom, Matt or Andy out there.

Yes, this team played with a backup pass rusher and back up rusher most of the season.

But they find ways to win more than they lose this year, so anything is possible....

Seriously though; it's been frustrating to see the play calling to super conservative with a lead, the other team almost bring it back to a game and the defense or special teams get the points the offense don't get, and save the win.

On the plus, I liked Reid going for it on 4th, every time he did Sunday. Hate the results (of course) and disagree with a few of the plays called, but liked the aggressiveness.

I hope that aggressiveness continues next week; in the form of playing offense to score points and not just the preserve a lead. But to be aggressive everytime the O is on the field.

Oh, and Sutton; blitz more!!!!!!!
