Alex Smith is a solid QB, sorry haters. Bucs win 5th game in a row.
Despite the common thought here that Alex Smith held down the team Sunday, Smith's overall production to the team yesterday graded out very positive in 3 rankings:
Smith: QBR 94.1, QB rating 99, PFF 71.9 Winston: QBR 83.6, QB rating 97, PFF 50.7 ![]() https://www.profootballfocus.com/pro...-for-bucs-win/ "Smith gained positive expected points (EPA) on 77 percent of his plays on Sunday, the second-highest rate for a QB in a game this season (Dak Prescott, 83 percent versus Chicago in Week 3). Put simply, more than three-fourths of his plays contributed to the team’s scoring margin, given the context and situation." - http://www.espn.com/blog/statsinfo/p...s-excels-again This is why we should use our brains instead of repeating the garbage fed to us by Mellinger and Teicher. If Smith only had 34 plays yesterday to do something with the ball and earns both a rushing and passing TD, a FG, to 1 INT (first red zone interception since 2013) and completes an outstanding 77% of passes ... we should probably focus on the real problem yesterday: The Defense. Who didn't show up and allowed Winston/Martin to hold the ball for 35 minutes, earn 24 first downs, and convert 68% of 3rd downs (league average is 40%). Against the Bucs... Alex Smith: 1 INT, 99 QB rating Philip Rivers: 2 INTs, 80 QB rating Russell Wilson: 2 INTs, 39 QB rating Drew Brees: 3 INTs, 49 QB rating Last edited by TigeRRUppeRRcut; 12-11-2016 at 09:10 PM.. |

I'm not asking coaches to be incredibly forthcoming. I am even fine if he went the BB route of coach responses. But when he comes in acting like a knight who always takes responsibility yet never really does, it bothers me. Then when he continues to make the same mistakes it bothers me even more. The guy does a lot of stuff well. If he would just self-evaluate better and delegate he could really take that next level. Yes he has wins and consistency says a lot. But if he wants that final level of results, I think he really needs to delegate some of the game day stuff and he clearly never will. |

What if Alex Smith IS the "right man" for the job, and the "job" itself isn't worth two ****s? A LOT can happen in a decade. What would happen if you stacked 75% of the entire offense with pro bowl talent and drafted a sure-fire franchise QB who bought in to Andy's offensive philosophy? Would the end result be any different? Or, you keep the above scenario and somehow manage to acquire a PROVEN franchise QB like Rodgers? Would the end-result be any different? Now I would argue that the best QB for Andy is the one who takes the offense right out of his chubby little hands, one who like Peyton had the experience and skill to run his own offensive scheme and the talent to back it up and to produce. Not an outright rebel against the coach but one who has the ability to say, at the LOS, "nope, we're not running that screen" and change the plays as needed. Reid needs a QB who is better than HE is, not a marching worker-ant mindlessly taking orders. Because it seems to me, that being on the "same page" with Andy during the heat of battle may not necessarily be the best place for the offense overall to be. |

Why call me a troll? You really think I make posts here just to screw with people, and get attention?

However, Sandy is miles and miles better than tiger. He doesn't troll. He has in fact been critical of Smith several times. I like to give credit where it is due and be objective as much as I can. I see things people disagree with but I strongly disagree that he is a troll. I personally think he is here even post Smith. He certainly has implied as much with his comments about moving on from him ect. |

I still think DAT was in but DAT should have made sure there wasn't any question. He could have been a yard inside the pylon and not have been touched. But Ware has been garbage the second part of the season. Probably a combination of him and the line. This line is above average pass blocking but below average to bad in run blocking. |
