Bieniemy got passed because his team is still in the playoffs, and there weren't enough head coach openings to get a team to wait for the guy they wanted. I suppose teams could have waited a week, but it shouldn't be expected that his team would lose in the divisional round. So there he'd be put off one just one more week, and then when if the Chiefs won again?
The Chiefs once had to hire their head coach in February because they wanted Haley. Teams rarely want to do that. It'd difficult to ask teams to wait for a full month like that without a head coach. |

The truth is, the longer you wait the harder it is to put together a quality staff. Not to mention Bieniemy won’t be allowed to pluck from Reid’s staff. |

Yeah Reid's OCs get HC jobs because they got credit for at least calling some of the plays. As far as I know Reid has never said EB has called plays.

Remember. Andy Reid has never once held the position title of "offensive coordinator." Not in college, and not in the pros. And he didn't call plays in Green Bay, either. That was basically Holmgren. He turned out okay. |

Yeah, that was an incorrect statement. Andy Reid has said that EB (and Pederson and Nagy before him) is part of putting together the game plan.

You're giving Pederson a lot of credit. Most people believed Reid was calling plays for Pederson until well into his last year with KC. Incidentally, he ended up being a spectacular coach.

I mean, that didn't stop the Giants from making a giant head scratcher hire, but then again, this is also the team that drafted Daniel Jones at 8. |
