I will never understand other than pilot error why he was flying so fast. I work by a hospital and see the life flights come and go almost every day even in shitty weather and if the weather is not great they are moving at a snails pace. Seems to me he could have parked it in the field somewhere until the weather improved.

Yep, there’s just something off about all this

Doing 160-180 when they hit the hillside?

Maybe the throttle got stuck or something, who knows... but we surely don’t have the whole story yet

The million dollar question is, was the pilot pressured by the passengers to go up? Or was he just overly confident and thought he could make it thru the bad conditions?

I tend to think there was some kind of pressure on him. He was flying way faster than necessary. Clearly trying to make it by a certain time.

I am confused. the witness (video earlier on this thread) who sounds like he knows aviation, said the chopper was moving slow. was the 160 to 180 referring to the compass (degrees) like he was heading in a southern directions?

There was video released just today by a group of mountain bikers witnessing it basically overhead, that showed the chopper very low and going relatively slow in an erratic manner

With the speed thing, last I read the size of the debris field pointed to a very high speed impact, estimated in the 160-180 range... the final NTSB report hopefully clears it all up

I dont think that guy knew anything just because he talked intelligently doesnt make him an expert witness. Whether he wore a old school TWA hat or not could have been a retired baggage handler or ticket taker. We are gonna have to wait for the NTSB to sort it out.

On a side note today they were working on trying to get those bodies off that hillside I pray that happened today for the family's sake.
