I dated a girl in college for a brief period before transferring schools. We ended up splitting up shortly thereafter as the distance didn't work and cut of all contact. For whatever reason, it bothered me for years afterward. And six years later, we finally reconnected and went out for dinner. And I remember being so on edge on the way to meet her. And when the innocuous dinner was over, I was at deep peace because I finally had...closure.
It's the same thing with the Chiefs right now. My wife is due in 3 weeks and I'm so happy I have this closure right before my life takes this big jump forward. Now, I really don't care so much about my own life's happiness with sports because last Sunday was the absolute pinnacle for me. And my only sports goal going forward is that my unborn son can experience what I just did. I feel like I mentally just took a huge leap forward in my life, and that's not an exaggeration or some feeling that's ephemeral. I'm more complete as a person. |
