The Texans clearly view David Johnson as a great RB. That contract was going to be a poison pill for the Cardinals in their negotiations to trade him. They probably would've needed to do what the Texans (ironically) did with the Brock Osweiler deal by trading draft stock to relieve themselves from some of the awful contract.
The only other possibility is that the Texans didn't care about Hopkins and believed he was way overrated. |
