I know I wouldn't be upset.

About the only thing that would "upset" me in this draft would be staying at #32 and taking a guard/center, when there are game changers on the board.

I highly doubt that’s the plan, But Reiter is going into the last year of his contract and that position needs an upgrade. I’d much rather see that happen in the 2nd or later. I wouldn’t be pissed if they took a good center in the first, but I sure wouldn’t be excited about the pick.

It’s either Cesar Ruiz or nobody in terms of the 1st.

Yup. And I wouldn’t be mad...but I also would feel we missed an opportunity to get a top talent at a position that provides more impact.

Depends on how you define the term "impact"(at this point of the team's maturation) i.e. to what player you take. Does Mahomes have even "more impact" because he now has true protection up the middle because we took Ruiz allowing him to make more downfield plays because he has time?

Or will Pat have "more impact" because he has another Hardman like WR or elite RB in his stable but still subconsciously worried about the pressure up the middle against good defenses while running for his life?

IF our o-line had better depth and interior line were fine no doubt you take an offensive ball skill player BUT I say at this point of the team's maturation cycle and how many hits Pat took last year you definitely need to protect your franchise player no matter the cost IF that player is there at 32.

No Pat No SB PERIOD IMHO.

There is no doubt that they need better offensive line depth but with several glaring holes, I just cannot imagine Veach taking a center over one of the extremely talented WR's.

A LB like Queen in the first would be fantastic but I just don't know if he'll be there at #32 because there are several teams ahead of the Chiefs that could use upgrades at the LB position, too.

If they stay at 32, I think Queen will be the guy.

He’s very inexperienced and doesn’t have tons of film. In most off seasons, that’s no big deal. You have other ways of finding out more about the player. In this corona offseason, those ? Will scare off lots of teams and have them go with safer choices.

I honestly think he’s going to fall to us and have a long career making a bunch of all pro teams. He’s exactly what this defense needs to take it up to the next level.

While I agree with you that Queen would be a very nice pick, I just can't help but think that Veach needs to add more selections in this draft.

If he doesn't trade out of #32, there will be enormous pressure on the front office to get the remainder of the 4 selection right because they wouldn't have any room for error.

I was just talking about if we stay at 32.

My best 2 options:

Drop down just far enough to add a mid third.l and take BPA.

Trade up using a 2 or 3 from next years draft to go get someone they really like.

I would ****ing explode if we could use next years 2nd to move up from 32 to get a guy like Lamb or one of the Alabama WRs.

Yeah, agreed. Trade down is certainly the best option because they really need more picks in order move around in this draft.

Giving up a 4th or 5th to move up in the 2nd or 3rd would suck.

I really think we'll be trying to move down and acquire more picks.

Too many people are still stuck in the "need" arena when they need to think about positional value. OMG we need a corner and a linebacker and a defensive lineman. Better draft that!

I've said it for ****ing years.... That's not what the draft is for. But no. "Draft linemen, we can find skill players in free agency."

No. No you can't. Good skill position players don't hit free agency, and they are very rarely traded. Whereas linemen can be reclamated from all over the place.

Draft the best talent you can get. Period. If that's a receiver, it's a receiver. If it's a back it's a back. If it's a linebacker, great. But if we're talking about a lineman at pick 32 he better be ****ing Will Shields (a 3rd rounder btw) or John Tait or Eric Fisher sitting at the bottom of the round, especially when we're talking about a draft class loaded with skill players.
