The SB Hangover: Do the Chiefs experience it?

I know nobody wants to think about this. But is this possible?

Or does Mahomes/Reid and overall team chemistry factor in too big of a blockade for something like that to happen?

Does this season all things considered provide the Chiefs an advantage since they're not going through any regime changes, coordinator changes, QB changes, etc. They're returning 20/22 starters. The rookies may be behind a little but the majority of the team, mainly the important impact players, all know the system, playbook, language, etc. A team that does have to go through that is going to need that extra OTA, training camp time etc. Not saying the Chiefs don't need it too, but they can probably get by with picking up where they left off and go from there and not skip a beat IMO.

History hasn't been too kind to the team that's won the SB the previous season. Hope the Chiefs can overcome that bad luck mojo much like they did the Madden curse.

I’m sure we’ll make the playoffs every year. The regular season injury luck will probably determine our seeding.

You are correct. Being healthy for the postseason is key.
The Ravens game appears to be the most important game for determining the #1 seed. They have stacked their team this offseason. Is that who you have as one of the two losses?

I completely forgot about Tyreek getting injured in that first game. Man this team is good lol

My gut says no. First of all, we're returning 20 out of 22 starters; that's just huge. Especially for this season, when there won't be OTAs, maybe no mini-camp/training camp, etc. Experience and returning veterans should be a big factor.

Second, there probably won't be a real home-field advantage this season if there aren't fans in the seats. That works more in our favor. Our offense will draw fewer false starts and just generally run smoother without all the crowd noise normally found in opposing stadiums.

Third, and I think this might be the biggest factor, with the lock-down our guys aren't running around partying, doing TV appearances, doing commercials, etc. They're staying at home resting and working out. Most championship teams win and then go wild. No, not every player, but a lot of them. They party, run around the country doing appearances, and generally speaking they don't rest and rehab, or prep at all for the upcoming season.

This year our Chiefs literally can't do all that stuff. They're going to be well-rested and in pretty good shape going into whatever preseason we end up having. And probably pretty well studied up by the first regular season game.

If anything it’s going to help the players, especially Mahomes, play fast and loose. Imagine if we had lost the Super Bowl without the fourth quarter comeback or even the Texans game with that slow start. They would be so heavily scrutinized and probably end up playing tight this season with that baggage. I imagine that’s what’s going to happen to Lamar and the Ravens in every playoff game till they win one.

I say no to the hangover theory.
However stamping our ticket to the Super Bowl is very premature.
I think our athletes know how difficult getting to the ultimate game is. They will work for it and are driven.

If anything the team underachieved last season and still won it.

Most teams that don't repeat and have a hangover lose a bunch of players and coaches

I think Andy should make an offhanded remark to Patrick and the badger. Tell them not to make breaking the dolphin record a goal, it probably isn't achievable.

On the other hand, no one is gonna blame a Year 1 HC if they crash and burn this year. Pretty much any of them should get 2 years to get things in gear.

The Chiefs come up slightly short this year.

Lose to the Ravens 35-31 in the AFC Championship game.

Could be. I think the Ravens come back to reality this year.

I think they’re more of a 10-6 to 12-4 team. If Jackson wears down from so many carries, they could end up even worse.
