Netflix to produce six part series on Kaepernick
You know you will watch!
https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.esp...3fplatform=amp Colin Kaepernick will be the subject of a six-part series produced by acclaimed director Ava DuVernay, Netflix announced Monday. The series, "Colin in Black and White," will explore the quarterback's high school years, attempting to show the experiences and insights that led to his activism. Kaepernick will appear as a narrator, with an actor playing him as a youth in the scripted drama of a Black child adopted by a white family. "Too often we see race and Black stories portrayed through a white lens," Kaepernick said in a release. "We seek to give new perspective to the differing realities that Black people face. We explore the racial conflicts I faced as an adopted Black man in a white community, during my high school years. It's an honor to bring these stories to life in collaboration with Ava for the world to see." Kaepernick will also be an executive producer for the series, which was written by Michael Starrbury. No date has yet been set for its release. DuVernay and Starrbury previously worked together on the Emmy-winning Netflix miniseries "When They See Us" about the Central Park Five case. Kaepernick, 32, spent six seasons with the San Francisco 49ers but has not played in the NFL since 2016, when he started kneeling during the national anthem to protest police brutality and racial injustice in the United States. The actions stirred debate about the national anthem, and despite his qualifications, including a Super Bowl appearance, Kaepernick has been a free agent since 2017. "With his act of protest, Colin Kaepernick ignited a national conversation about race and justice with far-reaching consequences for football, culture and for him, personally," DuVernay said in a release. "Colin's story has much to say about identity, sports and the enduring spirit of protest and resilience." DuVernay directed the 2014 drama "Selma," about the 1965 Selma to Montgomery march for voting rights, becoming the first black female director to have her film nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture. |

Systemic is defined as relating to a system, especially as opposed to a particular part. It is exactly what we are saying it means. To clap and act as if it doesn’t exist just shows us that there are still plenty of ignorant people like yourself in this country completely blinding themselves to our history in this country. Systemic oppression is easy to find if you look into the real estate zoning and redlining, the prison system that keeps cycling violence and removing father figures from homes in the inner cities or the schooling system/complete lack thereof at this point in the inner cities. To act as if these systems aren’t in place is just beyond oblivious at this point. You have to be actively closing your eyes and looking the other way to not see them by now.

I tried watching but it’s obvious they were just trying to make this a left and right issue in the first 5 minutes and it’s obviously so much more than that. He even claims to be upset that people are trying to claim there is as much systemic racism today as there was in the 50’s and 60’s so for you to act like this video proves that it doesn’t exist is ridiculous.
He probably never discusses how the inner cities were created and segregated by real estate redlining. He probably never once mentions the crack that was flooded into these inner cities by our government. To act as if you are going to educate me on systemic oppression is a joke when your opening argument is that there is none in America. That constitution everyone loves to protect was originally created by slave owners. We had to literally make a compromise to count black people as 3/5 of a person just to get more votes for their owners. There are people still living today that were not given the same equal right to vote as you because of the color of their skin. To just act as if those deep rooted systemic issues are not still causing issues today is a completely obvious stance to take. It ruins any credibility to an actual discussion on the issue if you’re going to act like systemic oppression is completely inexistent in this country. |

After watching that video what point do you think was made that goes against anything I said. Are you literally just trying to pick at semantics? No one is misunderstanding what the 3/5 compromise did. Did you eat a lot of paint chips as a kid?

Those semantics you discount are huge, purposely taken out of context by the Left in order to hate on the Constitution and Founding Fathers.
Nowhere in the Constitution does it say that a slave is not a person let alone 3/5ths of a person. All it was referring to was 3/5ths of that population of slaves to be counted i.e. to equaling the playing field to voting among the states hence the compromise. BIG DIFFERENCE. |
