Damn. Found a link just to get the details:

Honestly, that kind of sucks. His teammates shouldn't have to pay the price for his dumbassery.

In case anyone else wonders, the penalties for Class A Assault in Texas are up to a year in jail and a fine of $4,000.

Agreed. It's also amazing to me that people keep saying the ref got body slammed - which he didn't. He got bowling balled.

I feel like it’s fitting. Good lesson that as a team they all serve each other.

It's a moot issue at this point, but no. There are seniors on that team, right? Maybe some are trying to get a scholarship somewhere, and maybe finishing the season makes a difference in some of those kids lives.

And we don't punish the whole team for the sole act of one player. This is America, not the Soviet Union. We don't spray punishment around over everyone for the epic stupidity of one person.

Collective punishments that would significantly damage your future?

As a HS athlete, sure, there were plenty of "he screwed up, or that unit screwed up, so everyone is doing push-ups/running laps," or whatever. But that's not the same thing. Taking away games crosses the line.

SiGNifiCaNtlY dAMAgE yoUr FuTurE. By missing out on a high school football game? I mean, yeah, if you peak in high school maybe.

If the team puts each other over individual accomplishments this doesn’t happen. One for all and all for one.

I said "could." Dumbass.

Have you never heard of HS athletes getting scholarships for athletics? Those playoff games "COULD" have made a difference in a kid's future. maybe not. But it is possible. And yeah, I've seen a single game make that kind of a difference in a kid's life.

So, a guy at your job sends a dick pick to a woman in HR, you and your entire team/department gets fired for it and you'd just shrug it off?
