He couldn't get on the field when we had rookies and UDFA's playing in what our coach openly called "the worst defense he's ever coached at any level", and Mike Zimmer is obsessed with his secondary.

As I said, I wish Mike Hughes the best, but the chances of him doing anything at all are almost nill. Decent flyer on a player, but I'll be amazed if he even gets through training camp.
Let's be realistic about what you got in return though. You moved up a few spots into the 6th round in exchange for a player. You didn't get a draft pick free and clear, because we got a pick in return. However, even if you did get that 6th round pick free and clear, what has Spielman done with 6th round picks in the last few years?

2017
Bucky Hodges selected with pick #201. Released 9-12-17

2018
Colby Gossett selected with pick #213. Waived 9-1-18
Ade Aruna selected with pick #218. Injured, then waived 8-31-19.

2019
Armon Watts selected with pick #190. He played in 23 games with 1 start and had 42 tackles combined and 2 sacks.
Marcus Epps selected with pick #191. Waived 11-6-19
Oli Udoh selected with pick #193. He played 7 games with 0 starts.

2020
Blake Brandel selected with pick #203. Waived 9-5-20
Josh Metellus selected with pick #205. He played 15 games with 9 tackles.

I only went back to 2017, but it's not like you guys have amazing success with these 6th round picks and the 6th round pick we traded you is likely to be very near the end of the 6th round as opposed to those listed above. What you got in return for trading us a player and a pick is not much at all.

I was about to bring up Stefon Diggs, but he went in the 5th round, not the 6th.

I know 6th round picks aren't supposed to be franchise cornerstones or anything, but that's really not much of a list you brought up. There are a couple nice depth guys the Vikings got on the list you put up, but again, it's all relative for what 6th rounders generally get you.

Going back past 2017, the next most recent noteworthy 6th round selection for the Vikings (infamous to the franchise, though) would be taking Blair Walsh in 2012.

If you want an honest-to-goodness good solid starting player drafted in the 6th round by the Vikings, you have to go back to 1998 with Matt Birk.
