Brian Flores says Fins owner offered $$ to throw games

https://www.sportscasting.com/brian-...osive-lawsuit/

Quote:
“In January 2022, Mr. Flores, who spent three years as the Head Coach of Defendant Miami Dolphins, Ltd. (the ‘Dolphins’ or ‘Miami’), found himself without a job. He was fired by the Dolphins after leading the team to its first back-to-back winning seasons since 2003. The purported basis for his termination was alleged poor collaboration. In reality, the writing had been on the wall since Mr. Flores’ first season as Head Coach of the Dolphins, when he refused his owner’s directive to ‘tank’ for the first pick in the draft. Indeed, during the 2019 season, Miami’s owner, Stephen Ross, told Mr. Flores that he would pay him $100,000 for every loss, and the team’s General Manager, Chris Grier, told Mr. Flores that ‘Steve’ was ‘mad’ that Mr. Flores’ success in winning games that year was ‘compromising [the team’s] draft position.'”
So, I pretty much guarantee that Ross did that, but that the discussions were private and not recorded, and there's no paperwork...but Flores would almost have to have some kind of proof to come out and say that in a lawsuit, right?

It was in 2019.

Ah, okay. Thanks. Actually in that case makes it stranger he wanted Brady in the same timeframe he just talked about tanking.

Flores goes on to state that he didn't think Miami was a good fit for Brady considering they were in the middle of rebuild mode. Didn't really say he had an issue with talking to him even though it could have been tampering, he didn't think it was good fit for Tom.

Based on the Broncos' response, it is quite possible that the interview did start on time with the underlings who were prompt, and then Elway and Ellis staggered in late.

What kind of mental gymnastics does it take to think an owner offering a HC money to lose games is evidence that the NFL rigs games? It's actually the complete opposite.

Hell, you think if the games were rigged, then Flores would have said so.

Is that why he tied the ****ing game and dove for extra yardage on our possession to go to TO?

At will. Amazing how the entire offense looked lost in the 2nd half, with Reid having Mahomes fire away into 8 deep shells....

I mean, the result pretty much shut everyone up about the OT rules, didn't it?

If we go down and score in OT, everyone bitches.

But Tyreek does his best Darrell Revis and bats the ****ing ball right to a goddamn Bengal...

You mean to tell me you guys think the Jets were trying? We're we trying back in 08 with Tyler Thigpen?

This should be the expected result if draft pick position is correlated with wins and losses. Perhaps the NFL should consider NOT giving the worst team the #1 draft pick.

All 1-32 teams put in a lottery of equal value without regard to wins or losses in prior season.

If an owner offers his or her coach money to throw games they could bet the other way against their team and win more money over and over again. Similar to fixing stock prices, etc. Unethical business behavior rules that should be enforced to ensure a fair game and people not gaming the system based on their socioeconomic standing or job role.

Remember when we had Brady Quinn at QB and Romeo Crennel as HC?

Holy shit...Romeo. RC Cola.
