I don’t have the stats to back up my hypothesis but I think a big part of this is how much opposition teams feel the pressure to keep up with our power scoring offense and thus we have to defend a lot more 4 down situations where, if they were playing other teams, they would usually go for the chip shot field goal and settle for 3.

I think some of it has been offensive turnovers that leave our D with a short field to defend.
