Later picks, obviously, but ironically the Chiefs got praised for their first two picks in the 2020 draft (RB & LB).

That being said, don’t ever take a RB in the first round. It almost never works out and ends up being a wasted pick. There’s always better value for RB’s later in the draft.

DET fans are excited about the matchup. overall, they seem positive about the Lions chances to cover. Spread appears to be 6.5/7 (I haven't actually looked yet).

They are not impressed by our WR corps. Some have weirdly decided that Pacheco is mediocre.

Excerpts:

"You are right though that they aren’t very “scary”. Their WR group is comprised of a one trick pony deep threat (MVS), a former first round bust (Toney), a 2nd round WR in 2022 who barely made an impact in a weak WR group (Moore), and a kid I really liked this year, but probably won’t be firing on all cylinders in his first ever NFL game (Rice). Even their stable of RB’s are pretty mediocre at best . . ."

"Sorry, I’m not scared of Skyy Moore and Valdez-Scantling. Mahomes/Kelce will be the two best players in the building but I think we have better talent overall. I wouldn’t trade rosters with them."

"Double Kelce all day and turn Houston loose.

KCs roster got worse IMO"

And so on.

Some rightly believe that the best time to steal a W from KC is early in the season, so they might have a better chance playing KC Week 1.

Just some interesting tidbits from the other side . . .

That’s basically the Chiefs board anytime before 2018 lol

We have the better coach and we have the better QB. IIRC, we haven’t lost a season opener since 2014.

We’re gonna lil bro the Lions and after we beat them by 10, they’ll be talking about how it was a quality loss to a great opponent.

I'm just waiting on one of them to mention "The Chiefs blew out the Pats in 2017!"

Tbf, most don't believe they're going to win. As I said, they believe that they can cover. Some (the usual wildly optimistic bunch) are predicting a 20 point beat down of KC by DET, but that's normal on any board. But the majority think they'll at least be competitive.

of course, the last time we played DET they were competitive. if not for a 99-yd fumble return by Breeland . . .
