Well the fact they somewhat paused and had to talk about it they erred on the side of safety for the QB. They didn't want to hear it from NFL Brass IF they don't call it because you know it's all about protecting the product !!

Maybe none of them knew the rule in minuscule way and they just CYA'd is my opinion.
