Probably before your time, but he was the bridge for the Broncos between the two #7s (Craig Morton and John Elway). I was a kid when Elway started, and I hated that Dan Reeves insisted on going back to DeBerg when Elway struggled his rookie year. He was SO immobile. Good guy, though.

there's a great deberg story about joe montana's first kc start in tampa bay

deberg's old ass was starting for tampa bay at that point and he left joe a note in his locker, in his shoes, before the game

"quit following in my footsteps"

the guy who started in front of montana his rookie year...****ing steve deberg

Just looking at his career stats, I swore that he retired a Chief. I was thinking he went straight from us to you. It's crazy that he was on the Falcons team the Broncos beat in Super Bowl 33, I thought the guy seemed old when he was rotating with Elway as a rookie, and he was still active for Elway's last game. The guy had quite a career. I wonder what he does now. It seems he could have gone into coaching.

The 37 year old game manager led us to a wild card 10-6 win over Marinovich the year we beat the Raiders in the last regular season game and then in the wild card. The year before he would have gotten us a WC win over Miami if not for a fraudulent holding call followed by a Nick Lowery missed FG at the end of the game.
