But I don't see how we can have half our cap tied up in 3 players.

And Kelce's not a huge contract. $13m is a bargain for his production.
Just for some context the 2024 salary cap hits:
Mahomes - $57,358,269
Thuney - $26,971,713
Taylor - $24,725,000

Just those 3 player is accounting for just over $109 million toward the cap.

Remember when Von was elite and coming off a SB win? Remember when Buffalo signed him to a massive contract by going all in for a true HOF player (which we hope Jones becomes, but is not currently)? Yeah, I wonder how the Bills front office feels about that decision and the fans over at TBD feel about it? Rarely do these decisions work out for the team. I know, I know before a certain someone brings it up again, it did work for Reggie White who is the greatest DE of all time, so clearly it will work here.

Yeah. It's pretty brutal.

This is why they went young at WR.

They're going to have to go to the Mahomes piggy bank or something. Which sucks, because that raises the hits down the road.

Also I would let Jones walk if he’s looking at $30+ million a year for his 30-33/34 years. If he’s reasonable I would love to keep him for the rest of his career as I posted earlier today. But, you know, you do you and keep downvoting my posts (as if I really cared) vs debating your position in good faith.

You stated that I don't understand anything because I would keep a HOF player for another year that isn't 30 and you would not.

It follows from your reasoning that your rule is that players over 30 can't be here unless they are ring chasers.

That would eliminate Thuney and Kelce from last year's roster.

Basic logic and of course it escapes you.

Meck also agreed with you and is now backtracking and hedging.

In extending Thuney, they got his cap number down to $13m this year, but it balloons next year to 26m.

There's a real problem here, and it'll be interesting to see what Veach's plan is. There's an awful lot of good players up, and not much money.

I don't know what he's going to do, but I sure can't see tying up half your cap in three guys.

I'm sure there are plans and contingency plans.

I agree with bolded.
You should have said that the first time. You are talking out of both sides of your mouth.

Since Mahomes average salary is 45,000,000 they should take the roster bonus and move 12-15 million to other years.

Clark just opened his checkbook and upped Mahomes contract by giving him more money. I sincerely doubt he's gonna do that again so quickly.

That doesn't matter. Moving the roster bonus to other years is an accounting maneuver.

No, they should not. The next 4 years are $57, $60, $63, $59 Million. It would be absolutely a detriment to move that amount of his money.

Here’s the problem.

1. Jones will be 30 next year.
2. He’s not a HOF player and has a very long way to go currently. What is your basis for him being a HOF player? I am using the Pro Football Reference HOF tracker and the average score for a HOF DT is 105. Jones is 43.93 (basically a 44), so he isn’t even half way towards that.
3. Von Miller is a HOF player right now as is Aaron Donald. Both signed huge contracts after 30 and both have failed to live up to them. Now who currently can you point to as a comparable to show that Jones won’t drop off and make his contract a bad one?
4. Again I am for keeping Jones as I have said time after time despite you overlooking it. I won’t do it for $30+ million a year. If you think Jones will sign another one year deal then you play far too many video games.
5. I never said over 30 players can’t be here and using Kelce/Thuney as examples shows the silliness of your argument. They are both signed. Jones is not beyond this year. Thuney plays a position that ages well. Jones does not. Kelce is on track to be one of if not the greatest TE ever and he also plays a position that ages well AND is taking well below market value. Jones, while good is not a HOF player right now, nor will he ever be considered one of the greatest ever at his position.
6. Once again you infer statements from me that I never said to validate your narrative. It’s sad really, but as always you do you. My point about you never being right continues and with each and every post of yours you continue to validate it. Great job. Looking forward to your inevitable downvote. You might be best served hanging out in your echo chamber in the DC where you can get validation for your opinions.

If they were ok paying jones 30 they’d have done it this past offseason.

You have to be careful with that also. He is currently 31 and under contract through the age of 33. Redoing his contract is the reason his numbers are so high.

No, it is not it has to be converted to another bonus which has to be paid immediately. It is just accounted for in other years.
