Veach absolutely read the WR room wrong, it's been a mess and it was hubris to think Mahomes fixes everything. I said it before last year and then thought I was proven wrong. Nope. Apparently even a Juju type is needed.

The issue ive had is people saying we've pumped a ton of assets into our wr room. But we really haven't. Teams have aggressively drafted WR and spent a gazillion $ on them so when we get ours in, we are even further down the talent chain.
I've been as big a critic as anyone about this one position group but I don't think the ask is too unreasonable. I wasn't barking about davante. I was barking about bandaids like thielen and dhop as we organize the chaos. our defense has been elite so it isn't to knock on getting aggressive with defense but is that little extra to move our defense from great to elite worth it? There may not have been WRs sitting in our draft spots but weve also ignored positions like OL and it forcef us to pump huge money into it. We've spent a shitload of capital on guys like thuney, obj, Taylor and good chance we pump way more into creed and/or trey. But instead of finding these guys we are looking for backup DL and DB.
And that's not even getting into the moneyballness of it all. We can borrow money. Weve just chosen not to because we dont want to deal with long term consequences. We could have turned all of mahomes base this year into bonus. We waited until a few games in to restructure thuney which means that option was there from the beginning. We can afford to make these kinds of "credit card" moves. Hell Patrick's whole contract was structured to use that. My preference wojldve been to do this while we have a great versiok of Kelce and while Reid is still top of his game. We didn't and that's ok, but it was a deliberate choice.
So we had options. We just chose not to use them
