Force their defense to communicate / pass off if they're going to play zone with a bunch of new bodies and a scrub for a signal caller.

I think they bracket Rice if they do anything along those lines.

Kelce had a catch and run play about 4-5 weeks ago where he didn't even attempt a cut. Ran straight ahead, crashed into a couple guys, took it for 17 or so. He had the catch and run down the sideline a couple weeks before that where he just didn't even attempt to make a move - got run down and tackled.

He knows how careful he has to be with the knees/ankles at this point. He's had both of them fail on him just trying to make a strong cut.

I don't think he's nearly the YAC or big play threat that Rice is at this point. So Buffalo, if they're giving anyone extra attention, should probably give it to Rice.

Monday morning, the Stadium Wall is going to be full of posts complaining about "sitting in soft zone and letting Mahomes and Kelce and Rice and Pacheco kill them inch by inch" after a Chiefs 26-17 win that was not actually as close as that score.

The irony of Buffalo essentially being forced to give us the underneath stuff due to injuries is that KC would probably prefer that. A team that can stop the run and take away the shorter routes can give KC issues because we've shown time and time again that we're not a deep passing team this year. We don't have a single receiver that's even an average ball tracker on deep throws.

So, yeah, if Buffalo wants to give us the underneath stuff, I have more confidence in our ability to execute those plays than anything that forces our receivers to find the ball in the air and, you know, actually run to it and catch it. Especially with the emergence of Rice, I feel just fine about the short/intermediate game.
