Patriots said to be listening to offers on Judon.
Thoughts? Most of his money was in signing bonus so he's only due a $6 million salary this year. So you could give him a raise in terms of 2024 cash earnings without needing to really break the bank. Lets say you can get him for a 4th and re-sign him to a deal like the one they gave Danna. Anybody interested? Let's say it's Ogunjobi's deal 3 years/$28 million with a $10.5 million signing bonus. That puts $12 million or so in his pocket this season (bonus plus base) and leaves us with a team option at $5 million for next season or about $7 million in dead space next season (so you probably retain him). Where I think I'd probably draw the line is around Armstead's deal. 3/$43.5 with effective guarantees of 2/$30 million. The other issue is that I don't think he's ever really played with his hand on the ground at this level. I think he's pretty strictly a 2-point stance kind of player. So he wouldn't be any sort of base down solution for us. Strictly as a 3rd/passing down specialist, does he really bring that kind of value to the table for us? Not sure he's an ideal scheme fit.

The Omenihu injury just really put a hamper on that DE spot. I don't know if they really wanna expand resources or not with that happening now. |

As far as I can recall, he's always been more of an OLB in odd fronts. I think he has the tools to be a 4-3 DE, but he's never been asked to do it. Melvin Ingram made that transition pretty well but he did it well before he got to KC. He did that in his last couple years with the Chargers. And he was a pretty similarly built/skilled player. It's not impossible but it's definitely a risk. I'd sure have preferred he learn that sort of thing on someone else's dime.
