Beyond that, they should look into the various types of Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) available in their state. Supports and services have been evolving over the past generation, and congregate settings such as group homes are being utilized less and less. There have been a lot of advances in supporting people with disabilities in the community that promote both independence and inclusion.
