We got away with a pretty blatant DPI that would have set the Falcons up at the 1 yard line. I can’t remember the exact score at that point but my memory tells me they would have taken the lead with a TD there.

And the Chargers game was a 10-10 tie midway through the 4th, IIRC.

We may have never trailed in the 4th, but those games were definitely a bit too close for comfort.

Yeah, I think a team of our caliber should be able to win a Wild Card game handily but anything Divisional and beyond is expected to be a dogfight.

Although I would absolutely love to win a Super Bowl in blowout fashion.

Went back and looked and yea the Falcon game was down to the last play, the rest though nah not really. I believe Atlanta benefited from some really ticky tack calls that whole drive looking at the drive summary.

We shut out the Chargers in the 2nd half. That game wasn't nearly as close as the box score just like the Raiders game.

They've set the bar so high for worrying, the games you mentioned don't hit the radar at all... it takes something like this past weekend (and not until they were well within FG range and you knew they could run the clock down to nothing), or like the Broncos game last year that was 4 quarters of shit (hell, they still could have won Christmas Day).

They definitely make shit harder than it needs to be, but plenty of games don't feel nearly as close as the score indicates, mostly due to the other team struggling to move the ball.

Personally, any game that ends within one score is what I’d consider close enough to be in doubt.. as long as it isn’t one of those prevent D, allow a late TD type of games like the Raiders, of course.

But I will give you the Chargers game. I think that one was such a bore fest and combined with the Rice injury, I think I’ve just wiped it from my memory. I don’t recall being too concerned about that one, though.

There are blown calls in every game. Expecting perfection from the referees is unrealistic. Right now we have almost all of the rest of the fans in the NFL rooting against us and acting like they have a right to expect perfection from the referees when it comes to calls against the Chiefs. They have no such expectation on calls that work for the Chiefs, because they don't want those calls to be made.

I would love to see someone do a fair analysis of calls/blown calls that work for the Chiefs and against the Chiefs. Then I would like to see how that compares to the rest of the teams in the league. Finally, if that analysis is done fairly and shows that the Chiefs are benefitting from calls more so than the rest of the league, then do the same analysis with other teams that have been the golden children of the NFL like the Patriots, etc.

Once that is done, then I will listen to people that want to claim that the NFL is favoring the Chiefs.

I wasn’t complaining about the refs, more so dispelling the notion that the Falcons game wasn’t in doubt.

It was a good win but it was very much in doubt. I just checked the play-by-play to confirm and we got away with a blatant DPI in the end zone with 4:08 left in the 4th. At that point the score was 22-17.

Actually, the score remained 22-17 for the final four legit drives of the game. We went 3 & out, they drove 83 yards only to turn it over on downs inside the red zone, we went 3 & out again, they drove 50 yards down the field only to turn it over on downs.

I don’t see anyone blowing out the Lions (if they make it). Should be an awesome matchup though. And Mahomes having to hear about how he’s winless against Goff for 2 weeks will be lots of added motivation!
