What do you do in the offseason if you are the Chiefs?

We got a couple weeks to kill time...

Re-sign everyone and draft BPA at 32?

We are not signing Smith. We still need a LT and we have already paid big money for 3 positions on the o line. It would be beyond stupid to sign Smith.

I think Humphries - if he can cut the mustard in the playoffs - gets a short term team friendly deal. There is your LT solution. I get what you are saying but you invest in the guys that protect your franchise. Can Morris or Calendo fill the RG spot adequately? We have all seen how bad our O is when Pat has no protection. I’d rather see KT, Moore and James catching passes than an O-line that o-lays defenders to crush Pat.

I’d be willing to bet we can get DHop back on a team friendly deal if we win the SB with him. He seems like the kinda guy that would enjoy teaching the younger WRs while chasing a 2nd ring. Not to mention if he walks with JJSS, Hardman and Moore that leaves us very thin at WR with Rice out.

when you sort by snaps %, it goes:

1. Trey Smith
2. Justin Reid
3. Nick Bolton
4. Tershawn Wharton
5. Justin Watson
6. DeAndre Hopkins
7. Nazeeh Johnson
8. Kareem Hunt
9. Juju Smith-Schuster
10. Mike Pennel
11. Matt Araiza
12. James Winchester
13. Samaje Perine
14. Josh Uche
15. Derrick Nnadi
16. Mike Caliendo

and everyone else plays less than 15% of SNAPs for their unit.

I'd probably priotize re-signing defense. Maybe Bolton, Watson and Johnson as I think that could be realistic.

I think what you do this year has as much to do with he 26 class of free agents as it does the 25. I think you work on a mcduffie extension as soon as you can. The year after Karlafits is up, Mcduffie, Watson, Williams, Cook, Chenal, Pacheco and Kelce (assuming he doesn't retire).

To me your looking at
Reid vs Cook. Reid's much more important, but Cook would be cheaper and Hicks is coming on.

Bolton Vs Chenal. Could Leo step in and do what Bolton does? Physically yes. Mentally?

Ohminihu vs Karlafitis. This is tough. Both are great but I think Ohminihu offers more as a rusher.

Obviously not apples to apples but just as far as resource allocation to position groups.

I think you have to have a conversation with Joe Thuney to see if he would want to play LT moving forward bc he’s been the best LT this franchise has had since Eric Fisher and he’s got the juice.

One of the biggest priorities is extending him bc he’s a top 5 OL in all of football. Verderame said he’s only been called for holding one freaking time since he’s been a Chief and he’s aging very well. Only missed 2 regular season games in his career.

I’d keep Hollywood on another 1 year deal at least bc he’s cheap. Hopkins should come back too while Rashee is out.

The Chiefs need to find the cheap FA steals that they always do that are successful. Juju, Tranquil, Hollywood, Breeland, D. Williams, McKinnon, Araiza etc.

And yes they are probably keeping Bolton and letting Trey walk. Trey is gonna get so much money from some team. Patriots and Bears will price us out on him IMO

I'd extend Thuney and Bolton, resign Brown and sniff around on the rest.

They need to keep adding speed to the offense though, be it a RB or WR.
