(Way too early) 2025 Round 1 Chiefs Targets

With the football season kicking off soon, I’m curious to know which positions we will target, and who the players are at those positions that we should be watching.

What say you?

Jeanty rules and I do think the Chiefs will be drafting a RB at a decent spot this year..I just don't think he'll make it that far.

Pearce Jr listed weight is 243. Spags will never draft an edge that small

We're kind of in the place where we just need to get 3 or 4 good players from any and all drafts to stay afloat. It almost doesn't matter where they play; because they're NOT going to be LT's or stud pass rushers. Unfortunately, we're going to have to pay for those, so we'll need to go cheap and young in multiple other spots.

I don't think Trey Smith OR Bolton get re-upped.

We badly need a win-fast pass rusher and a LT. If Humphries plays well, just do whatever to keep him for a couple of years.
Alot of top pass rushers came from the 3rd and 4th rounds. Guys like Hendrickson, Hunter, Bonitto, Smith, Crosby, etc. Some others came in the late 1st like Watt and Oweh. You can find them outside the high 1st.

Maybe. We haven't had a ton of luck with DE's outplaying their draft position, but it took a few swings at WR to get it going, so who knows?

I didn't see the Boise - PSU game, but looking at the box score, Jeanty had 30 carries for 104 yards, or about 3.5 yards per carry, which is pretty pedestrian at best. I imagine he had almost the complete focus of PSU's defense though. How has he done previously against higher competition?

From an article before the game:

Quote:
Penn State is ninth in the country in rushing defense, allowing just over 100 yards per game, but is even better by most efficiency metrics. The Nittany Lions allow a 37.2% success rate on the ground, which is 29th best in the country, but are sixth in total expected points added (EPA) against the run, seventh in EPA/game, and sixth in EPA/rush. Only Indiana, Oklahoma, SMU, Tennessee, and Ole Miss are better by EPA/rush.
I think Jeanty did admirably all things considered. PSU was completely focused on him.

I think I largely agree that LT and DE are damn hard to find at the end ot R1, but as you say maybe we just have to accept we keep swinging. It also looks a decent year for DE depth.

I also think we need a guy who can win fast. Picking where we do I think we have to accept that might mean that's really ALL they do at first. It's also why if a guy like Pearce fell there (probably a long shot) I'd run it in. It's why I was probably higher on Nolan Smith types than most. Having a guy who can win fast ar DE feels like the missing piece. Pearce is easily capable of improving against the run too imo. Obviously Spags' use of Uche suggests he disagrees, meh.

I could honestly see CB being the BPA and a big win for us. I wouldn't mind a guy like Trey Amos or Jahdae Barron at the end of the 1st at all.

I really think we should just take the best football player that is on the board in the first and perhaps second rounds. Take some swings on upside in the third and fourth, but just get a couple of guys ready to go with the first two. Position literally doesn't really matter, other than no QB's high.

I don't care if it's two OG's. Just need good, cheap young talent.
