How are we feeling about our O-Line?

A big focus this off season was to fix the O-line. How are you feeling going into this season with this line? .

LT - Jaylon Moore
LG - Kingsley Suamataia
C - Creed Humphrey
RG - Trey Smith
RT - Jawaan Taylor

This will probably not be popular but I’d trade up for Josh Simmons around the 20s and create more competition at LT.

I can fancy two or three different draft scenarios but with one I'd like to see one of the OTs slip and for Breach draft that player. Simmons because of medicals or Conerly who could turn out to be the best LG option for now with the possibility of moving to LT in a year. Sumaitaia and Wanya can compete.

We really need the picks. So unless Conerly or Simmons somehow falls to us, I doubt it.

One of the other things to consider about Moore is that he’s been mediocre even with the advantage of surprise. Always seems when a backup comes in they have an advantage because the opposition hasn’t prepared for them.

On top of that he loses plenty of pass snaps. They may not result in pressure because of SF’s scheme, but he gets beat a fair amount.

Should be better in the run game.

Terrifying thought as it is, 😳 how do they develop him without playing time? I see no signs they think of him as guard. That means it is tackle or bust for the big kid.
I think they continue to look at trying to develop Driscoll at RT. At least that's my opinion. Hell, they could cut the kid, who knows.

As for the draft, now that there isn't pressure to go round 1 LT, I have my eyes on Charles Grant from William & Mary in the 3rd Round. 6'5" 311, 34-3/4" arms, elite athleticism. Needs to add bulk and strength to anchor in the NFL. Looks the part technique-wise in pass sets already. I think he's a definite option. Let's you focus on the bigger holes on the DL earlier.

Ambivalent.

I’m no OL guru, so I could well be entirely off-base. But we just traded away our best OL, a perennial All-Pro LG probably destined for the HoF, and replacing him with we’re not sure who. Then, we’ve signed yet another LT, who could be okay, but could just as easily be dirt. But he ain’t a great LT, and there’s no reason to think he’s going to be. So we’re hoping for “better than the jag offs we had in there last season.”

Then, apparently Taylor had a poor season (saw an article that said his grade was a 58 on the season) so we have to hope that he rebounds. And we all know that Trey had maybe the worst season of his career, so he has to bounce back as well.

Bottom line, this could be a terrible year for the Chiefs OL. We need to hope that coach Heck is better at his job than most around here think or this will be a pretty rough ride in 2025.

I took option two

Seriously hope they don't just hand Moore the starting LT gig because of his contract, he needs to unequivocally earn it in a three way camp battle with Humphries and Suamataia

I’m hoping they’ll bring in someone to compete with Moore for LT… maybe Humphries? I imagine he would be cheap for 1 year. That would make me feel a little better about the line, and I’m sure they’ll draft a LT at some point in the draft.

If the left side is serviceable, then it’ll be fine and maybe the offense can actually function as intended.

Wanya Morris is still on the team. In my opinion, he will be the primary reserve at LT. He played with a knee injury for a while last year, which sunk him. I still think Veach is going to get someone in the draft, but chances are you're already looking at options 1 and 2.

Curious. Do like him with the Chiefs or the Titan's 3rd round pick?
