Cleveland Browns propose 2 billion+ new stadium project

The Haslams have committed to privately investing $2 billion-plus in a dome stadium and mixed-use development project a mile outside Cleveland city limits, with the intention of trying to cement the team’s future in Northeast Ohio.

Nah, the alternative is becoming St. Louis or Oakland. The investment far exceeds the benefit to most cities. Imagine KC without the Chiefs...

I'm sure for all the people that give 2 ****s about sports that's where they want their money to go.

I mean lets have a real conversation, you give a dude worth billions of money more money so he'll put a stadium in your city to give you the ability to...go give him more money.

Meanwhile your roads suck, your schools suck, your healthcare sucks.

NBA has declined over the last 5 years. NHL is way better now

That is just what social media narratives tell you.

Watch the Thunder or the Cavs play.

It is poetry in motion. Then have an open mind and go back and watch late 90s or early 2000 NBA.

You're eyes will bleed. Sometimes narratives take on a life of their own.

All of those things literally suck everywhere. Paying for stadiums has nothing to do with it.

^this^ the ancillary benefits of having a major league sports town is many times the difference between growing or dying. It's not like these billionaires aren't footing 2/3's or so of the costs now, and as HTIS say, this has little to do with the management of the city who's funding should adequately keep infrastructure dependable and operational. This is usually done in an additional sales tax in addition to the operational taxes for the city's budget. No stadium no additional tax.
