Green do's and dont's

Some posters were saying Green didn't do well.

I saw Green nail snoooooop on 3rd and 15 for a first down.
I saw Green run for a first down on 4th and 10.
I saw Green execute the two minute drill with a beautiful pass, with an AWESOME catch in the corner of the endzone.

I have high expectations, but not unrealistic ones...For his first game....I thought he did pretty damn well.
My favorite part was when Dick grabbed the playbook, pulled Green aside, yelled at him and then tossed his headphones. Oh wait, that was Marty
Yeah that was pretty funny.. how long before Marty's as$ is back in the ESPN studio? Oh wait, he was fired from that too?

"14 POOR passes happened. Now, recievers not running the correct routes might just be WHY that happened. "

Vermiel has said that it is Greens job to throw the ball where the receiver is SUPPOSED to be. If the receiver isn't there, then it is not Greens fault. In this offense (again according to DV) the QB has to throw the ball BEFORE the receiver is open.

Word up Splatbass, and think about it.........he is throwing to live out there, and most of them were out of desperation trying to find the "most open man" our guys weren't gettin' too open, running poor/slow routes. If he hadn't had to try to force it, his completion rate would have been much better.

Don't....
- give the ball to Holmes
- throw into double-coverage

Do...
- use Snoop and Gonzales...
- use the shotgun more...
- get faster blockers...

Fly,
You're wrong, wrong, wrong.
We NEED ever so desperately to get the ball to Holmes more. You need to watch more football or something, because it is not uncommon for a HB to get shut down for his first 10 carries and then break open for a couple big ones later. Look at Terrell Davis last night. His #s were very similar to Holmes' up untill the half, but Denver didn't give up, and he ended up with 101 yards.

Brad and everyone,
I don't want to sound like a blind "homer", but you are all being a little harsh on Trent. He started out pretty darn good. His first pass was dropped, the second should have been pass int, his third he caught on a batted ball, and it went on like that. I only saw one time when he didn't throw to a wide open guy, and that was Alexander on a third down in the first quarter. He found Gonzalez open a few times, and ended up leading us to a two possesion lead. His game got worse after the second bad snap. He made a few bad throws, but looking at the tape, I am sure you are confusing incatchable balls with balls that he was throwing away. There were also a few drops. I'm not saying he had a good game, but think about this...

Last year in New England Elvis had a bad day, and he got really bad when he hit Gonzalez at the 5 yard line when we didn't have time to line up. He single handedly lost the game for us because he lacked the intangables to play effectively at crunch time.

Trent on the other hand, also had a bad day. But when we needed it, he kept a cool head and drove the field. He broke two tackles and scrambled for a first on 4th and 10. On that play, Tony Richardson was doing jumping jacks yelling "throw me the ball" But Tony was standing 3 yards short of the first. Instead of doing the Elvis thing, he yelled at Tony to make a "would be" game saving block. Then, when the sidelines couldn't get their shit together and get a play called, Trent did the smart thing and called our last time out. The crowd booed, but not only was it the correct thing to do, we ironically ended up scoring with TOO MUCH time on the clock. Obviously the throw and catch to Minnis was a thing of beauty, and despite poor play, our offense did not lose this one. Our special teams and defence didn't play tough when they were needed. (Although, the Raiders caught a lucky break on the kick off return to midfield. Bracy Walker would have made the tackle at the 25, but was blocked in the back. The Raiders should have had first down at their own 15. Not first down at our 48.)
